Newest Member of the Adamson Family

Mitchell James Foster, son of Anna (Ernzen) and Spencer Foster made his arrival on: July 11, 2012.  He shares his birthday with his great-grandpa Donald Ernzen.  (Donald got his wish!  And, Anna & Spencer are happy that if she missed her due-date, she at least got to have her first-born on such a special day.)   Anna began labor on Tuesday July 10th, walking the hall at St John Hospital in Leavenworth, with her husband by her side, every step of the way.  Her water broke at 5:00 p.m. on the 10th.  Labor progressed very well from then, into the night, and the next morning.  Mitchell was born at 1:38 a.m.

Shortly after his birth, the OB nurses grew concerned over his rapid respiratory rate.  They ordered some lab work suspecting he had inhaled meconium before birth. The pediatrician was called in, she ordered an x-ray.  And the decision was made to transport Mitchell to a NICU in Kansas City.  Children's Mercy decided to transport via helicopter.  At approximately 7:00 a.m. Mitchell was on his way to Truman Medical Center by helicopter.  Dad & Grandma Schmidt drove down to be with Mitchell; and Anna and Grandma Ernzen (Gwen) stayed at St. John hospital so that Anna could recover.  Her Dr. agreed to release her that day, and at 6:30 p.m. Gwen drove Anna to TMC to reunite with Mitchell and Spencer.  The Foster family-of-three, has had a lot of good news.  Mitchell was taken off the oxygen mask by the afternoon of his birthday, because his respiratory rate (rr) had improved enough.  The antibiotics are treating his infection.  Anna was able to begin breast-feeding him on day-2 (7-12-12); and they have all gotten more rest since being reunited.

Welcome Mitchell!
Congratulations to: Anna and Spencer! (parents)
Gwen & Rick (grand-parents) and
Sam & Donald (great-grand parents)

Thanks to everyone for their prayers --- Anna and Spencer know that God responded to the many prayers that were being said for Mitchell on his birthday, and they feel so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful loving family.
